Why Journey?
Journeying helps you come back home, to reconnect to your True Self & to see the masks of personality & ego. It links you to the subtleties & poetry of life, to the rhythm of creation, to the mysterious, often amusing, wonders of the world. It is a powerful way to connect to your inner wisdom & guidance.
The journey state is said to be an altered state of consciousness. You enter the gateway of dreaming, but your normal daily awareness is not fully shut off as it would be when you are asleep. In the journey you are dreaming, yet you have the awareness of your daily consciousness. This means you are aware of the dreaming of the journey & its profound messages. Like dreaming, your perception can go to all places in an instant & things will appear in front of your eyes.
Because your mind consciousness is not asleep in journeying, it is a safe way to develop your Dream Body and your Spirit. Journeying helps you access your inner silence to balance & align yourself with the great powers of the cosmos.
A journey is a powerful mirror of your true being within.
How to Journey
Before the journey, determine who you are going to contact: for example, the Council of Mothers in the Earth, the Council of Chiefs in the Sky, or your spirit animal guide. The journeying practice consists of lying down with eyes closed. Breathe, relax, & let yourself sink into Mother Earth. Following the sound of the drum, visualize entering a tunnel & traveling toward a light through which you emerge into a landscape. You may need to engage your imagination at first & create the light at the end of the tunnel to begin the experience. Eventually the journey will take over when you see whatever landscape appears. You can then call the help of your power animal or any other animal guide. At the end of the journey time, the rhythm may change, signaling you to return through the tunnel to this world here. Take a few minutes while lying down to recollect the visions & messages of your journey before you sit.
